The iconic Watergate Hotel, in Washington, D.C., will reopen its doors in summer 2015 following an extensive $125 million renovation. Originally designed by Italian architect Luigi Moretti in 1961, renowned designer Ron Arad is behind the refresh.
About 95 percent of the 343 upscale guestrooms will feature views of the Potomac River; half will offer balconies. Premier suites include five Diplomat Suites and two Presidential Suites. In-room, guests will enjoy plush bedding, floor-to-ceiling marble bathrooms and cutting-edge technology. Guests can control every aspect of their stay via a smartphone app.
Other amenities include a casual restaurant with outdoor dining; a fine-dining restaurant; a whiskey bar; a rooftop offering 360-degree views of the river, a fire pit and bottle service options; a spa and fitness facility; a 15-yard indoor swimming pool; and 17,000 square feet of meeting and function space catering to a multitude of occasions.
