Though I heard Miami in August is not the most pleasant place to be, I was determined to find a reason to still enjoy one of my favorite cities. My stay at Sagamore Hotel definitely gave me a reason! Sagamore Hotel, also known as The Art Hotel, is, in my opinion, exactly what I imagine when I hear the words “South Beach.” With a beachfront location on Collins Avenue, Sagamore is in the heart of where everything is happening, close to the best shopping, restaurants and nightlife. When I entered the hotel, I immediately noticed the museum-like feel to the property. The decor is clean, simple and all white. Typically, I am one for a splash of color, but Sagamore has plenty of personality thanks to the art displayed throughout the property. The white walls are lined with beautiful paintings and some of the greatest photographs I have ever seen. There were a few I wish I owned! In addition, guests will find artistic videos projected on the walls, sculptures and even a standard gray staircase that has been artfully transformed by students from the New World School of Arts. I learned each artist painted a separate step of the staircase. What a great idea! It’s not surprising the property is family-owned, as it exudes a very different atmosphere than your standard hotel and has a lot of character.
