Once the home of artist Georgia O’Keeffe, Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, N.M. hosts Transformative Travel, a workshop designed to open travelers to meaningful travel experiences, helping them to connect more deeply to the places and people they encounter along the way. The interactive, hands-on weekend (March 28–30) makes the most of the stunning desert ranch setting. Diversions include the onsite Florence Hawley Ellis Museum of Anthropology and the Ruth Hall Museum of Paleontology, hiking trails, horseback riding, bodywork sessions and an assortment of Georgia O’Keeffe-themed tours.
Author, filmmaker and performer Judith Fein and award-winning photographer Paul Ross, both of whom specialize in ancient and indigenous world cultures, lead the weekend workshop. Fein’s work appears regularly in Psychology Today and the Huffington Post, and her books include Life is a Trip: The Transformative Magic of Travel and The Spoon from Minkkowitz: A Bittersweet Roots Journey to Ancestral Lands.
The cost of the workshop is $135 per person. Lodging rates vary with choice of accommodations and number of meals included. What to bring? A notebook, your camera, lots of curiosity and an open mind.
