I don’t know about you, but I’m already looking back at November and feeling a little dizzy. It was one of those months where I barely had time to breathe, but I also wouldn’t trade a single second of it. You know how life has these seasons when you’re running on all cylinders and somehow still managing to enjoy it? That was my month. Well, I guess one can say that has been my year.
I told you all about my adventures with my sister-in-law in New York City in my last blog; that was the beginning of the month. Right after NYC, we headed home to Philadelphia with more exploring and sightseeing to do. We visited some historical landmarks: City Hall, Independence Hall, Elfreth’s Alley, Betsy Ross House, etc. We hit Old City for some Cuban food and dancing at Cuba Libre before we wrapped up.
Another night, we walked around center city and Rittenhouse Square and, after some shopping, had dinner at Parc. It was one of those nights where the air is crisp, the streets are lit up with twinkling holiday lights, and the vibe just feels … cozy.
Then came the real whirlwind of November: hosting. First up was Friendsgiving, which, as with any gathering, was a beautiful disaster. After the chaos of figuring out seat arrangements, menus and pick-up times came the rewarding feeling of laughter, food and memories created. They make it all worth it. I had friends from all over in my home, and it was one of those nights where you realize just how lucky you are to have such amazing people in your life.
I took advantage of one of my best friends being in town and went wedding dress shopping for the first time. The idea of shopping for this day seemed so overwhelming, and I wasn’t sure what to expect — so many options, so much pressure. However, this turned out to be one of the most beautiful, emotional experiences I could have imagined.
Then, of course, came Thanksgiving weekend with my family. A full house!
I spent the weekend cooking, laughing and creating core memories and new traditions in our home. Hosting family is never “easy,” but it’s always incredibly rewarding. Watching everyone gather around the table, sharing stories and just enjoying being together, it’s the kind of thing that fills you up and makes the chaos feel a little more manageable.
Looking back at all of this, I guess you could say November was a bit of a blur. I was constantly on the go, from city tours to family gatherings to wedding dress shopping — but it’s all part of what makes this season so beautiful.
As I head into December, I’m reminded sometimes the busiest seasons are the ones that leave the most lasting impressions. So I guess I’ll just keep soaking it all in, one chaotic, wonderful moment at a time.
