Yesterday was Global Traveler’s annual Wines on the Wing Survey, held at the brand-new Montenapo Restaurant in New York City. Thirty-three judges attended, blind-tasting over 100 bottles of the best reds, whites and sparklings, submitted by over 25 different airlines. In the past, GT has held its survey at hotels. While they always provided a most luxurious and elite atmosphere for the winetasting, I felt that Montenapo was able to rival the same atmosphere with its open, welcoming and well-lit venue. I look forward to hosting other GT events at Montenapo. GT‘ers and friends had a chance to sample some wines and Montenapo’s excellent food. Montenapo provided delicious hors d’oeuvres, like squash soup with octopus, fresh gazpacho and polenta with Gorgonzola and walnuts. The entire event was topped off with tiramisu with fresh raspberries and a raspberry sorbet. The combination of top wines, delicious hors d’oeuvres and great friends reinforced the fact the Global Traveler is a truly special publication! -Courtney Centeno, account executive
