I am off to Myrtle Beach for the annual golf outing with an eclectic group of Philadelphia golfers. We plan to play the following courses: Arrowhead Country Club, The Pete Dye Course at Barefoot Resort, The River Club, Caledonia Golf & Fish Club, Blackmoor Golf Club and Pine Lakes Country Club. Many of these will be future GTee golf reviews in Global Traveler, so keep your eyes peeled for upcoming articles. The trip is four days of golf all day, every day — two rounds most days. We hardly have time to eat and sleep as we play so much golf. I am bringing the latest driver from Taylor Made, the R9 driver, with me, which allows you to open or close the club face, change the loft and move parameter weight around the head to affect your shot. I am wondering if the guys will let me “dial up” my club at each hole. I also picked up a Taylor Made 3-wood (burner) to complement my Callaway strong 4-wood and 5-wood. In an effort to keep the economy going, I ordered a pair of FootJoy classic golf shoes, which have leather soles and outlast any golf shoe on the market. They are traditional golf saddle shoes, comfortable and classy — no “sneaker” golf shoe for me. Unfortunately, FootJoy will be discontinuing this shoe. Well, I guess the game has to change. Look out for my reports in upcoming issues, as we might have a surprise guest GTee journalist from one of the others in the group. – Fran Gallagher, publisher and CEO
