California entices travelers to visit the Golden State this summer with new programming, events and offerings.

New Hotels
Travelers have new hotels to choose from throughout California. The Paloma Resort opens this summer in Palm Springs. The boutique resort features 66 modern bungalows and suites set among the pool-side, mission-style Adobe. San Francisco offers guests two brand-new properties. 1 Hotel San Francisco opens this month. The property utilizes reclaimed wood, native greenery and organic accents throughout the hotel. LUMA Hotel San Francisco debuts this summer with stunning city skyline views. The modern hotel is located in the Mission Bay area. Beacon Grand Hotel opens June 30 following an extensive renovation. The property retains its historic architecture while introducing modern design elements.

Aquarium Offerings
San Diego opens Beyster Family Little Blue Penguin habitat at Birch Aquarium on July 12. It will be the only aquarium in the western United States to house Little Blue Penguins, the world’s smallest penguins. Long Beach’s Aquarium of the Pacific recently debuted its new Babies! Exhibition. The exhibit offers visitors the opportunity to interact with new creatures, including baby sea otters, miniature sea jellies and baby color-changing cuttlefish.

California History
Visit the new Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture in Riverside. The exhibit reflects a partnership between Riverside Art Museum and comedian and Chicano art collector Cheech Marin. Affectionately called The Cheech, the exhibit celebrates the social, cultural and political impact of Chicano art. Hearst Castle in San Luis Obispo recently reopened following a two-year closure.
