Icelandair adds Rome (FCO), Alicante (ALC), and Nice (NCE), to its international network for travel this summer. As popular tourist destinations, the addition will provide connections between North America and Iceland during the busiest travel time of the year. Passengers flying to these three new destinations can take advantage of a multiday stopover in Iceland at no additional airfare.

“As we enter the New Year, we are seeing the signs of recovery for the travel industry,” said Bogi Nils Bogason, president and CEO, Icelandair. “We are excited to be able to add these three new destinations to our already extensive route network, further facilitating growth in both the inbound and outbound markets. With the additions of Rome, Nice and Alicante for the summer, Icelandair is committed to offering our European and North Atlantic customers more choice and convenient connectivity.”

The flights to Nice will operate from Reykjavik (KEF) July 6–Aug. 27. Flights will operate Wednesday and Saturday. Flights to Rome from KEF will operate July 6–Sept. 4. Like the Nice flights, flights to Rome will operate Wednesday and Saturday. Beginning Feb. 10, flights will operate up to twice a week to Alicante during the entire summer and part of the fall season.

The news of the addition of these three new destinations comes with Icelandair’s reinstatement of flights from Montreal (YUL) and Vancouver (YVR) to allow Canadians more options to both Iceland and Europe.

Hotel Nice Beau Rivage Review

In the city Henri Matisse once called home — and where Musée Matisse holds his largest collection — Hotel Beau Rivage has a special connection with the artist, who first visited the hotel in 1916 and painted famous sea views from his room 89 in 1917. Today, framed Matisse prints — many brightly colored cut-out collages from the artist’s JAZZ collection — decorate its walls. Hotel guests also benefit from a partnership with the museum.
