Reduce your carbon footprint with some eco-friendly products perfect for everyday life and travel.
Reusable Water Bottles
Although a no brainer, a reusable water bottle can help save a lot of money as well as reduce plastic waste. While you can’t bring a full bottle through TSA, most airports have water fountains and refilling stations.
Some reliable brands for a reusable water bottle are S’well, Simple Modern, Hydro Flask and YETI.
Reusable Straw
Whenever you order a cocktail or get a to-go drink, they usually come with a plastic straw. If you go out for all three meals and get an iced coffee or another drink, that’s four different straws in one day. Instead, invest in a reusable straw and cut back on your daily plastic use.
Plastic straws come in stainless steel, silicon and bamboo. Some are collapsible so they can fit in your bag or some even can be added to your keychain so you will have it on you the whole time. The same type of reusable straw won’t work for everyone, so test them out to see which is right for you.
Shampoo and Conditioner
Instead of using mini bottles of shampoo and conditioner while traveling, opt for shampoo and conditioner soap bars. These reduce plastic use and offer more per wash — a simple small bar can last up to 80 washes. If you are looking for reliable and fragrant shampoo and conditioner bars, check out Lush, offering a variety of different smells and including fresh ingredients and essential oils.
If a bar isn’t for you, invest in TSA-approved reusable shampoo, conditioner and soap travel tubes. These allow you to refill them for each trip, and fit in your carry-on. You don’t have to break the bank on these bottles, Amazon has a bunch of reliable and affordable options.

It was known as the “Kai Tak heart attack” — the thrilling, terrifying final approach into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport. Airliners were required to bank sharply at the last moment, dodging hills and apartment blocks to line up with a runway jutting out into Kowloon Bay. The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.
