Emirates added Seychelles (SEZ) to its list of recent flight resumptions, including Stockholm (ARN) and beefing up services to the Maldives (MLE). Emirates resumed Seychelles services Aug. 1, alongside the country’s re-opening to international tourists.
The airline also added new flexible policies for travelers.
Operating flights five times per week to the Seychelles via a Boeing 777-300ER, Emirates uses the popular vacation destination to kick-start tourism for the remainder of the season. The strategy was spearheaded by Seychelles Tourism Board in an effort to seek innovative ways to attract visitors amid COVID-19.
Other airlines resuming flights to the Seychelles include Ethiopian Airlines, Etihad, Air Austral and Edelweiss.
Prior to the country reopening to international visitors this month, only 41 tourism establishments were certified ready for reopening by adhering to all COVID-19 guidelines from the health authority — another 700 still needed to be certified ahead of August.
Shortly after resuming Seychelles flights, Emirates increased services to the Maldives to meet demand.
