Virtually escape to Saint Lucia with a new social media series, 7 Minutes in Saint Lucia. The twice-weekly Instagram live series takes home-bound travelers to the beach and to the dining and island culture of Saint Lucia — all from self-quarantine.
“By creating the ‘7 Minutes in Saint Lucia’ social media series, our aim is to virtually share Saint Lucian culture and natural beauty in an authentic way while people stay safe at home, to keep in touch with future visitors and our valued travel agents — hopefully providing a bright spot in their days,” said Dominic Fedee, Honorable Minister of Tourism, Saint Lucia.
Would-be travelers can follow along as Saint Lucia Tourism Authority broadcasts interactive activities and events — all streamed live from the island. The social series will be hosted on Instagram @TravelSaintLucia, Facebook /TravelSaintLucia and Twitter @TravelStLucia.
To get started, use #7MinutesinSaintLucia or go to the @TravelSaintLucia Instagram page, click the top of the feed with a play button and follow along with the schedule:
Saint Lucian Flavor Cooking Class
Hosted live Tuesday, March 31, 11–11:07 a.m. EDT, virtual travelers enjoy a live cooking class from Chef Shorne Benjamin. Follow along with the international Saint Lucian chef and learn a few tricks of the trade. Take notes and observe while the chef guides viewers through a step-by-step creation of a local dish.
Live DJ Party
Tune in Thursday, April 2, 5–6 p.m. EDT (not quite seven minutes, but we’re not complaining) for a live, virtual dance party. Get up and move to the beats of DJ HollywoodHP and dance off some steam to live reggae, dancehall music and Soca hits — all from home. Share the schedule with friends and host a virtual dance party.
Beachy, Breezy Meditation
Tune in Tuesday, April 7, 11–11:07 a.m. EDT for some much-needed meditation time. Just seven minutes to clear your mind with Janelle’s guided meditation class on the sandy beaches of Saint Lucia — virtually. Turn the sound up and hear the waves of the Caribbean Sea; really let yourself sink into the local sights and sounds for the ultimate homebound escape.
More interactive activities will be added, including a “hike” at Tet Paul Nature Trail, guided meditation, mixology classes featuring local rum, cocoa tea-making lessons with a local chef and educational classes from a local herbalist.
Stay up to date on island news amid COVID-19 here and plan your virtual visit.

Mar 28, 2024Cruise Lines Elevate the Onboard Fine-Dining Experience
It’s been a long time since the food on cruise ships resembled the bland, uninspired fare that gave onboard dining a bad name. These days, cruise passengers can look forward to menus created by Michelin-starred chefs made with top-quality ingredients served in stunning spaces. Choices abound as well. In addition to elegant main dining rooms, cruise ships have created a huge array of specialty restaurants that focus not only on perfectly executed traditional European and North American dishes but flavors and experiences from around the globe as well. In fact, meals served aboard cruise vessels have gotten so good, they’re drawing passengers onto ships: According to a recent report by luxury travel planning network Virtuoso, advisors report after Europe (specifically Italy and France), the No. 2 dining destination for travelers is aboard an ocean or river cruise. “This shows how cruise lines have really stepped up their culinary game, with consulting chefs and new restaurants and making that a focal point,” said Misty Belles, vice president, Global Public Relations, Virtuoso.
