Humanitarian Terry Waite mesmerized a packed ballroom Tuesday evening during the 10th annual GT Tested Awards gala. Waite, a hostage negotiator who became a hostage and was held in Lebanon, mostly in solitary confinement, for five years in the late 1980s to early 1990s, spoke passionately about lessons learned from his experience and the power of forgiveness.
Travel industry leaders representing airlines, hotels, goods and services were on hand to collect well-deserved awards as voted by the astute readers of Global Traveler. The gala event at The Peninsula Beverly Hills also served as the kick-off for Global Traveler’s annual auction to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Many of this year’s GT Tested Award winners are donating items for the auction. Bidding begins March 1.
