WalletHub ranked the best U.S. destinations for a winter visit, looking at cities’ affordability, weather predictions, flight cancellation likelihood and attractions.
The top five destinations in descending order are Chicago; Washington, D.C.; Atlanta; Cincinnati; and New York City.
Atlanta, Cincinnati and Chicago all rank highly for low travel costs and fewer hassles. Cincinnati also comes in first for its affordability.
New York City tops the list for most attractions, followed by Chicago; Seattle; Washington, D.C.; and Portland, Oregon. For specifically cold-weather activities, Chicago snatches first place, followed by Atlanta; New York City; Washington, D.C.; and Portland, Oregon.
The study also ranks warm-weather cities for those seeking some fun in the sun this holiday season. Warm-weather destinations are also ranked according to factors like affordability and number of attractions.
The top five destinations in descending order are Las Vegas, Orlando, Los Angeles, San Diego and Dallas.
Dallas and Las Vegas rank highly for low travel costs, as do Houston, Austin and Charleston. Dallas boasts high affordability as well.
Travelers find the most activities in Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Las Vegas and Orlando. For warm-weather activities specifically, WalletHub recommends Honolulu, Orlando and San Francisco.
