United Airlines announced a new feature for economy-class passengers. The new United Relax Row, set to launch in 2027, will feature a set of United Economy seats that can transform into a couch, creating a more comfortable option for economy customers on long-haul flights. The launch will make United Airlines the first North American airline to offer this kind of seating option. The airline also holds North American exclusivity on the design.

The United Relax Row is a dedicated row of three seats outfitted with individually adjustable leg rests that fold up at 90-degree angles to create more room to sleep, stretch out or watch a movie. Customers in United Relax Row will also receive additional amenities like a custom-fitted mattress pad, specially sized plush blanket, two additional pillows, and a plush toy and Children’s Travel Kit for families.

The new feature is slated to launch in 2027 on more than 200 Boeing 787 and 777 widebody aircraft by 2030. The seats will be located between United Economy and United Premium Plus, with up to 12 United Relax Row sections on each plane.
