TAP Air Portugal offers three new routes to Portugal: from Boston (BOS) to Porto (OPO), Los Angeles (LAX) to Lisbon (LIS) and San Francisco (SFO) to Terceira (TER) in the Azores.
TAP is the only carrier to offer these routes nonstop:
- Boston–Porto began May 14, with four weekly flights through Oct. 25.
- Los Angeles–Lisbon began May 16, with four weekly flights through Oct. 25.
- San Francisco–Terceira began June 3, and operate once weekly through Sept. 16.

TAP, which celebrates its 80th anniversary of service in 2025, first started service between the USA and Portugal in 1969. Currently, TAP flies from seven U.S. gateways at New York (JFK); Newark (EWR); Boston; Miami (MIA); Washington, D.C. (IAD): San Francisco; and Chicago (ORD).
TAP introduced service from Chicago O’Hare, San Francisco International and Washington Dulles five years ago as part of its major expansion in the Americas.

This summer, TAP will offer more than 100 weekly flights from 10 gateways in North America, including Toronto (YYZ) and Montreal (YUL), Canada.
All three new routes include TAP’s popular Portugal Stopover program where passengers can enjoy up to 10 days in Portugal on the way to or from dozens of destinations in Europe and Africa, for no additional airfare.
