IHG® Business Edge: Working Together with SMEs for a smarter way to manage travel
If you’ve ever dreamt of experiencing the good life of Florence’s great families — but in a modern context — Antica Torre di Via Tournabuoni 1 more than fulfills the requirements. The former private villa in its newly reinvigorated state (completed during the pandemic) offers a full-on Florentine immersion, whether you are traveling on business, pleasure or some mix of both. The location (the physical and cultural center of Florence) and the mid-13th-century building’s conversation-starting pedigree (built by the Guelf-Ruggerini family and owned by the Gianfigliazzi family) are two of the most important selling points. However, it’s what the current management has done to make the property relevant to 21st-century travelers that makes it worth checking into.
Based on their respective locations and divergent personalities, it’s inevitable there will be New York vs. Los Angeles (or San Francisco) comparisons when discussing the South Korean cities of Seoul and Busan. While Seoul is known as the nation’s business and government hub, Busan is defined by its coastline, beaches, cliffs, mountains and a slower — but by no means sleepy — pace. The city’s public hot springs, historic temples, ornate parklands, regional South Korean flavors and spins on global trends (like craft beer) also distinguish it from its Western counterparts.
GBTA’s Convention 2021 will bring the business travel industry together for the first time in a long time. Once again, you’ll learn and connect with experts and each other, along with discussions with leading thinkers, entrepreneurs and change makers addressing the issues that matter most.
For 20 consecutive months, the world’s seas and waterways were nearly devoid of travelers, furloughed by viral winds, and the ships of major cruise lines remained anchored in a ghostly quarantine stretching around the globe. Only this summer has the maritime lockdown begun to loosen, ports reopen and regulations relax to the point where operators can set sail on a course toward normalcy. The restart has been rocky, however, and it would require a boatload of crystal balls to predict precisely when — and even if — cruise lines can resume full operations. Passengers are therefore advised to scrutinize a cruise line’s refund policies before taking the plunge.
