Running to 2,021 and Beyond
This morning I only ran three miles, which is unusual. This year I average running eight miles a day. Today, though, I gave myself a break because I hit my goal of running 2,021 miles this year. Since I documented the start and middle of attaining this goal here, I thought it fitting to celebrate reaching that goal.
Running to 2,021
I ran my last marathon in 2018. Without having to train for a marathon, I really lightened my running schedule the last two years, but I wasn't happy about that. Needing goals and structure, I decided to run 2,021 miles this year.

I recently moved to a new city thousands of miles from the city I’ve called home for the last eight years. Because of this I’ve had the pleasure of exploring and discovering the heart of a whole new place, but also because of this I’ve experienced the loneliness and sense of out-of-placeness that comes from being in a new city where you don’t know anyone. So I did what many in today’s day and age do — I joined a Facebook group! It is there I found a listing for a free-of-cost, twice-weekly community yoga class hosted by a woman who formerly worked for a studio in town.
