Nothing says “golf” quite like the town of St Andrews on Scotland‘s tartan shores. Settle in like a local in a home of your own at the elegant and cozy 5-star St Andrews Golf House. A short stroll from town center, Old Course and West Sands Beach, the house was designed with American guests in mind. The golf-centric home-away-from-home was the brainchild of American entrepreneur Eddie Papczun, founder of golf collectibles and memorabilia company Golf Links to the Past. Papczun added features that include heated club storage, generously proportioned walk-in showers, ice makers and tumble dryers. Four en-suite bedrooms can accommodate up to eight guests.
The elegant blend of contemporary furnishings and lovely antiques, including an 1890s Scottish oak dining room table, is designed for maximum comfort. Guests can make good use of the dining space with home-cooked meals prepared with fresh, local ingredients in the gourmet kitchen. Along with a six-burner gas range and dual ovens, granite counters and French country sink, there’s a wine fridge that fits up to 40 bottles. Other house features include down-filled leather chairs, a 50-inch plasma satellite television, WiFi, marble baths, a cigar pavilion, a barbecue grill, a zoned iPod music system, a billiards and pub room and a three-hole putting green. Even better: There’s access to St. Andrews’ collection of legendary courses including Eden, Old Course, New Course, Castle, Strathyrum, Torrance and others.
