Raffles Singapore is paying tribute to one of the world’s most iconic cocktails: the Singapore Sling.
Widely regarded as the national drink of the country, fruity concoction marks its 100th anniversary this year. Created in 1915 at the Long Bar in Raffles Singapore by bartender Ngiam Tong Boon, the Singapore Sling became an international sensation.
Marking the milestone, celebrations throughout 2015 include commemorative merchandise, desserts inspired by the Singapore Sling, a Singapore Sling Masterclass where bartenders from the Long Bar divulge the secret to making the perfect cocktail and the Singapore Sling 100th Anniversary Suite experience (starting at about $1050 per night) including:
- Nightly accommodations in a courtyard suite
- Breakfast for two
- A 30-minute private session with Long Bar bartenders
- A complimentary Singapore Sling gift basket valued at about $225
