Whether you’re a karaoke star or just long to be, you can test your musical chops while sailing the high seas during Princess Cruises’ The Voice of the Ocean. Offered aboard Regal Princess in October, and both Royal Princess and Caribbean Princess in November, The Voice of the Ocean allows guests to experience seagoing version of The Voice, NBC’s popular international television singing competition for themselves. Guests 16 years of age and older will have two chances to audition at the beginning of the cruise. Those selected will be assigned a mentor and will rehearse with the Princess Band. Back-up singers will also be provided for a final performance.
The ship’s cruise director will host The Voice of the Ocean Live Show in the Princess Theater on the final night of the sailing, where up to nine contestants will belt out their best while hidden from three coaches. Following the format of the television show, teams are built from these blind selections, with a finalist chosen from each team who will perform for the ship’s audience. The audience will vote for their favorite vocalist, who will be named The Voice of the Ocean. Between January and May 2016, eight additional ships in the Princess Fleet will offer The Voice of the Ocean experience.
