The NFL international games have proven a great success and will continue to grow in 2027, with each team expected to play one game internationally. One of our avid subscribers, Bill Minich, flew to Melbourne last month to see the San Francisco 49ers play the Los Angeles Rams. The Marine Corps Ospreys flew over the stadium to help kick off the ceremonies; he said it was spectacular. Bill’s son was one of the pilots, so he enjoyed a very proud moment. And not one to let the moss grow under him, after returning from Melbourne Bill flipped around and flew to Bali for vacation. He even flew Garuda Indonesia for part of the journey. Garuda flew into LAX many years ago and was one of my early customers.

Last month I attended the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup, which takes place annually at Inwood Country Club on Long Island, New York. This was one of many qualifying golf tournaments all over the world, including 88 destinations in 60 countries. As the invitation said, the global span of the qualifying tournaments mirrors the global span of Turkish Airlines.

The winners of each qualifier are flown in business class to Antalya, Türkiye, for the final championship round. (In 2018, GT Globility Board member Steve White won the Los Angeles championship while playing in my group and enjoyed this fantastic experience.) My foursome included Christopher Ottaunick, GT staff photographer; Kevin Ryan, GT Advisory Board member; and Jimmy Spratt, GT subscriber. A big thank you to our Turkish Airlines New York hosts Emre Ismailoglu, general manager, and Alp Ozaman, regional marketing manager. We had a lovely time … but not enough to qualify for the trip to Antalya!
