New Service and Business Class Updates from Finnair

Dec 11, 2017
News

New announcements from Finnair include expanded routes for 2018. Starting in June, Finnair increases frequency to Lisbon (LIS), with daily flights through the summer, as well as to Barcelona (BCN), with 18 weekly frequencies during high season. Other destinations with increased summer frequency include Budapest (BUD), Krakow (KRK) and Geneva (GVA). Finnair additionally plans to resume flights to Astana (TSE) next July–August.

Next winter, frequency increases on routes to Reykjavik (RKV), Ivalo (IVL), Rovaniemi (RVN), Kittilä (KTT) and Kuusamo (KAO). Due to demand from Asian travelers, Finnair plans to add more than 230 flights to Finnish Lapland during the season, for a total 482,000 seats, an increase of 15 percent over this year.

“Finnair is undergoing the fastest growth period of its history, offering more choice and more possibilities for Europe–Asia travel than ever before,” said Juha Järvinen, chief commercial officer, Finnair.

The airline also introduces a new business-class concept next year. New service provides a wider range of dining and wine options, on-demand service and Nordic-inspired designs.

“More than ever, our business-class customers enjoy the opportunity to customize their travel and dining experience,” said Piia Karhu, senior vice president of customer experience, Finnair. “Our objective is to create an unspoken bond with our guests, every time they fly. We have dedicated cabin crew personnel for business-class passengers, providing a more individual service, with the aim of setting new standards for comfort and overall well-being onboard Finnair flights.”

New business-class menus are the result of a partnership with acclaimed Swedish chef Tommy Myllymäki and feature Nordic flavors like Jerusalem artichokes with mushrooms and pear and braised ox with celeriac and kale. The new menu is available on all long-haul flights departing Helsinki (HEL), starting Feb. 7.

“We want to showcase the best of Finnish cuisine to the world, and created a menu that celebrates Finnish traditions and specialties, so that everyone traveling between Europe and Asia with Finnair gets a taste of modern Finnish cuisine,” said Eero Vottonen, 2017 signature menu chef, Finnair.

Other new business-class concepts debut Feb. 7 as well, but only on flights to Seoul (ICN), Tokyo (HND) and Shanghai (PVG), rolling out on other routes through next spring and summer.
