Drawing from centuries-old Traditional Chinese Medicine, healing modalities and Eastern rituals, Redmint recently opened the doors of its second San Francisco location. The 5,000 square feet of both indoor and outdoor space includes 10 private treatment rooms and an herbal bar, where patrons can indulge in a menu of delectable herbal lattes, shots and teas.
Custom wellness offerings include Face Glow and Body Acupuncture, designed to stimulate an individual’s Qi, or life force. Facials include Gua Sha Facials to increase circulation and assist with detoxification and Microcurrent Facials that incorporate gentle microcurrent technology to tone and tighten facial muscles for a natural lift. Among other treatments are LED Lightstim Therapy to alleviate pain and encourage the relief of tension, lymphatic drainage for detoxification, and Sound + Deep Tissue Therapy — a soothing and reviving treatment that utilizes tuning forks.
The name “Redmint” is a yin-yang play on the color red’s representation in heat, fire, speed and passion, combined with mint’s cooling, invigorating properties.
“Redmint’s second location continues to play with the Five Elements of TCM theory which represent fire, wood, metal and earth in design interplay,” said Meghan Carozza, co-founder and vice president of design, Redmint. “We wanted a dramatic but calming experience where eyes continue to wander and find new special moments while not feeling overly fussy.”
The new location can be found at 2044 Fillmore St., while the first is at 1958 Union St. Redmint is open 9 a.m.–9 p.m. daily. Bookings can be made at redmint.com, or via the Redmint app.

It was known as the “Kai Tak heart attack” — the thrilling, terrifying final approach into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport. Airliners were required to bank sharply at the last moment, dodging hills and apartment blocks to line up with a runway jutting out into Kowloon Bay. The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.
