One of the most memorable spa experiences in all of Hawaii can be found at The Fairmont Orchid’s Spa Without Walls on Hawaii Island. With six treatment spaces tucked into seaside huts called hales and eight more in private waterfall hales, it’s all about location, location, location. If the sound of waves rolling ashore and the scent of plumeria blossoms aren’t enough to whisk you into a state of total bliss, keep your eyes open during your massage and gaze at colorful koi fish swimming beneath a clear floor panel positioned below your headrest.
Island-themed therapies include the 50-minute Kane energy treatment. The long, regular strokes of a traditional lomi lomi massage are accentuated with the essences of local flowers including yellow ginger, ti and ’awa, and a soothing blend of warm coconut oil and kukui oils. Next, warm, locally sourced pohaku stones are applied, and a scalp and neck massage with optional ’awa cream wraps up the experience. Aloha!
