A popular Virginia stay, Massanutten Resort, is getting a big update this summer. The resort originally opened its doors in 2006.
Massanutten Resort is expanding its already 88,000-square-foot waterpark. The expansion includes three new slides, a new outdoor bar, an enhanced kiddie area and a bathhouse. Construction began last month and is expected to finish by late June or early July.
“We are thrilled to have the support of the local community for this exciting new expansion project,” said Dana Staniunas, director of recreation, Massanutten Resort.
The new attractions coming to the resort include a reverse freefall slide, a coiled innertube slide and a classic inner tube slide. The resort is hosting a contest for guests to help name one of the new slides.
Each of the attractions in the park goes along with the theme of being named after the Shenandoah Valley and ski resorts.
The resort is working on an outdoor waterpark expansion, but the resort is a great all-season destination. In addition to the outdoor attractions like bike trails and the water park, there is an indoor water park, resort spa, 18-hole golf course, skiing, snow tubing and more.
