Hyatt Hotels continues to expand its wellness focus with the recent acquisition of spa brand Exhale, as part of its larger effort to gain a stronger foothold in the wellness-tourism industry.
Exhale offers a range of spa and fitness services, including yoga, barre, massages and facials.
Following the purchase, the hotel company will oversee 25 Exhale locations in the United States and Caribbean. Hyatt plans to expand Exhale to Hyatt hotels and in freestanding locations.
Exhale currently has locations in New York’s Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC, Santa Monica’s Fairmont Miramar and Loews hotels in Atlanta and Miami. Hyatt says the acquisition will not impact these operations.
This follows Hyatt’s acquisition of spa operator Miraval Group for $215 million earlier this year.
In January, Mark Hoplamazian, president and CEO, Hyatt Hotels Corp., said, “We know that wellness is an area that is becoming increasingly important to our guests and we share Miraval’s belief that wellness is more than fitness and nutrition — it’s a lifestyle.”
As we approach 2018, it appears the wellness trend isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
