Located opposite Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate, Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin already holds a reputation as one of the city’s most elegant and luxurious hotels. Now, the hotel offers an innovative, augmented reality smartphone app for users to explore and learn more about four places found throughout the historic hotel. The app includes individual stations accompanied by audio guides, with narrations by German actors Range Bonalana and Tom Vogt, who also voice the roles of Oscar-winning actors Colin Firth and Renée Zellweger when their films are dubbed into German.

Made in collaboration with Berlin start-up ZAUBAR, the new Adlon AR app begins with a trip through the hotel’s 116-year-old history, in which the app user walks through Pariser Platz and down the hotel’s red carpet. Greeted by a bellboy, users then enter the lobby, viewable in 360-degree mode.

The app provides a virtual entry into the hotel’s iconic royal suite, a space often serving as the home away from home for many heads of state, royals and celebrities. In this suite, app users interact with the butler Ricardo, who attends to the needs of all three of the hotel’s presidential suites.

The hotel’s two-Michelin-starred Lorenz Adlon Esszimmer restaurant marks the finale of the tour, opening its virtual doors and menus to users. At each AR station throughout the hotel visit, app users can take videos and photos of the interactive 3-D scenery with their smartphones, which are then saved and stamped with the Adlon watermark for sharing across social media platforms.
