Hawaiian Airlines plans to increase capacity on its flights between Honolulu (HNL) and Oakland (OAK), Calif., and Portland (PDX), Ore., starting this spring. The airline will operate the Portland route with the larger Airbus A330-200 aircraft starting May 10. The switch will increase capacity to 294 seats, from the 264 seats on the current Boeing 767-300 aircraft, and add 11,000 new seats per year and 25 percent more cargo capacity. Hawaiian will increase its seasonal service between Honolulu International Airport and Oakland June 15–Oct. 3 from four flights per week to daily. The boost in service will add 12,000 new seats during the 16-week period. Hawaiian will continue to operate the route on the Boeing 767-300 aircraft.

Announced last week, Hawaiian Airlines recently earned the U.S. airline industry’s No. 1 ranking for on-time performance in 2012 for the ninth consecutive year, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Air Travel Consumer Report for December. The airline averaged a 93.4 percent on-time performance ranking for 2012, earning the top ranking in 11 of the 12 months. Hawaiian led the industry with a 93.3 percent on-time performance for the month of December.
