New Guest Chef Weekends are on the schedule at Rancho Pescadero, beginning with chef and cookbook author Renee Erickson (Nov. 12–15), whose restaurants and projects include Seattle-based The Walrus and the Carpenter, The Whale Wins, Barnacle, and Boat Street Pickles. During 2016, weekends feature chef Jessica Koslow (March 24–27) of Los Angeles’ Sqirl and the forthcoming Sqirl Away, followed by chefs Thomas McNaughton and Ryan Pollnow (April 21–24). McNaughton is a three-time James Beard Foundation’s Rising Star Chef nominee, while Pollnow’s Aatxe restaurant and bar was nominated as one of Bon Appétit’s 2015 Top 50 Best New Restaurants in America.

Chefs Greg Denton and Gabrielle Quiñónez Denton, the team behind Portland’s Ox Restaurant (highly lauded for its menu of Argentine-inspired Portland fare) will be on hand May 26–29. Each culinary weekend includes a cooking demo and lunch with the guest chef, a tequila and mezcal tasting, cocktail class with bar manager Danny Sanchez, Baja wine tasting and a tasting menu dinner by the guest chef held in the Garden Restaurant. Cost for each weekend, not including lodging, is $250 per person, and includes a Rancho Pescadero apron and a 15 percent discount on room rates at the resort. Located an hour north of Cabo San Lucas in Baja, Mexico, the boutique beach resort includes 29 suites, a yoga pavilion and the Tres Hermanas Spa.
