One of Abu Dhabi’s leading regional developers, Aldar, just unveiled Fahid Island, Abu Dhabi’s first coastal wellness destination and the world’s first Fitwel-certified island. Spanning 2.7 million square miles, this unprecedented island focuses on a core concept: wellness as a way of life. From air quality enhanced by natural ecosystems to architecture designed to elevate wellbeing, Fahid Island redefines wellness entirely.

The island boasts nearly 3 miles of pristine beaches and almost 2 miles of waterfront promenades, curated leisure and wellness experiences, and 5-star hospitality. Even the island’s walkways were constructed and designed with wellness in mind; pedestrian bridges link the two sides of the island, and a streetscape prioritizes foot traffic paired with a shading strategy to optimize outdoor thermal comfort.

More than 6,000 luxury residences are planned for the island, from townhouses to apartments to ultra-luxury villas. A 6-mile landscaped Berm Park will serve as both a natural visual and acoustic buffer and as the island’s wellness and fitness corridor, complete with running tracks and three cycling routes connecting to Abu Dhabi’s cycle loop. This park will also boast water stations, shaded areas and fitness nodes to cater to athletes of all levels.

The island’s boutique retail boulevard, Coral Drive, will include a unique selection of trendy outlets, art galleries, concept stores, cafés and more.
