Forbes Travel Guide released its Star Rating recipients for the year, which includes 200 new properties overall. Properties in 29 countries in the Americas, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region are rated, with expansion in 2017 to cover Africa and the Middle East. With this year’s honorees included, there are now 154 Five-Star hotels, 56 Five-Star restaurants and 47 Five-Star spas on the list. There are now 410 Four-Star hotels, 187 Four-Star restaurants and 180 Four-Star spas, with 159 Recommended hotels and 68 Recommended restaurants.
“These properties set an unimpeachable standard of excellence in hospitality at a moment when the proliferation of voices claiming to provide unbiased ratings online is exploding. With Forbes Travel Guide-rated properties, there is no ambiguity, no doubt: based on a stringent set of standards developed and refined over six decades, our ratings are now accepted and embraced worldwide,” said Gerard J. Inzerillo, CEO, Forbes Travel Guide.
A few brands and destinations stood out among the rest. Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts saw six new Five-Star hotel rankings. Paris as a destination was home to nine of the new Five-Star hotels, with Italy coming in second with eight. The Langham, Chicago won Five-Star recognition as the first Langham property in the United States to receive a Five-Star ranking. As always, boutique luxury hotels continued to hold their own.
