Day 2

7 a.m.: Group #1 (Golf)
Tee Times – Gloria New Course (18 Hole) – Take the complimentary hotel shuttle to Gloria’s ‘New’ Course.  Opened in 2005, with water coming in to play on several holes and gentle undulating tree-lined fairways, it is a truly natural challenge.

8 a.m.: Group #2 (Non-Golf)
The morning is at leisure. You may spend your free time at one of the three Gloria Spas (Gloria Golf Resort, Gloria Serenity and Gloria Verde Resort) enjoying the various spa treatments. Try the traditional Turkish massage, the international jet-lag rejuvenating massage or make your selection from a host of other relaxing treatments.  [Payments for spa treatments are not included and are to be made directly to the spa.]

11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: The group will enjoy lunch and unlimited local beverages at the Tetrasomia Restaurant.

1:00 p.m.: Board the coach for a guided tour of Aspendos, considered by most to have the best-preserved Roman Theater of the ancient world. The theater was built between 160-60 AD by Emperor Marcus Aurelius.

[8 p.m.: Cocktail reception hosted by Turkish Airlines/FXExpress Publications, Inc. & FX Excursions]

Day 3

This morning enjoy breakfast at the hotel.

7 a.m.: Group #1 (Golf)
Tee Times – You will be transferred to the Montgomerie Maxx Royal Golf Course. Opened in 2008, designed by famed British golf professional Colin Montgomerie, the Maxx Royal is considered one of the best golf courses in Belek and in Turkey. Set within 256 acres mixed with pine forest and sandy ridges, the natural environment has been maintained, thereby enhancing the particular characteristics of the Maxx Royal.

Lunch is included at the Maxx Royal after golf.

1 p.m.: Tee Times. You will be transferred to the National Golf Course. A truly magnificent course, which is routed thoughtfully across gently rolling terrain and through mature pine and eucalyptus trees. The snow-capped Taurus Mountains provide a provocative backdrop especially as the course is bathed in hot sunshine for the vast majority of the year.

The 18-hole Championship Course, designed by Ryder Cup Player David Feherty and Seniors Tour Player David Jones, has played host to the PGA European Turkish Seniors Open in 1996 and 1997.

9 a.m.: Group #2 (Non-Golf)

Day 4

Enjoy breakfast at your leisure.

9 am: (Group #1 & #2) depart by coach to Termessos.
High and away from the world we know lies Termessos, which sits on top of a mountain valley. The city is in ruin but is massive and has a strong history of a bold and defensive people. The inhabitants we know as Pisidians are prone to battle. So strong was this position and the people fought off Alexander the Great in 33 BC and the Romans allowed Termessos to remain independent from the crushing arm of Rome (as they could not conquer them). The city has much to see and is famous for its Amphitheater, which has spectacular views high in the mountains; it is stunning and a suggested location for fresh bread (procured on our drive) and cheese over a glass of Turkish wine. Our guide will take us through the impressive city that was eventually abandoned due to massive earthquakes that toppled the many structures and tombs.

Return to the resort after the tour.

7:30 pm: You will be transferred to the Montgomerie Maxx Royal Resort where you will enjoy dinner and unlimited local beverages.

We will play all 27 holes, which offer a thrilling experience taking us from magnificent river views to stunning Mediterranean vistas to the coolness of a rich forest and the Taurus Mountains. The Titanic Golf Resort is the home of the Turkish Airlines World Cup of Golf.

9 a.m.: Group # 2 (Non-Golf)
Meet in the hotel’s lobby where you will be directed to a cooking class featuring specialty Mediterranean dishes from the region.

12:30 p.m.: Enjoy lunch and unlimited local beverages by the pool

2 p.m.: (Group #1 & #2) Depart by coach for Perge. Considered the most significant town of ancient Pamphylia, the site entrance is adorned with a massive Roman Gate with four arches. Other highlights include the Hellenistic Gate, baths, colonnaded streets and a massive stadium.

Althoff Grand Hotel Schloss Bensberg Review

After a long drive from our previous destination, it was a relief to see Althoff Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg in our view. When we pulled into the hotel court, I felt like we were pulling up to a royal palace. Considering the hotel was originally built as a castle for Prince Elector Johann Wilhelm II of Duesseldorf and his wife, Maria-Luisa of the Medici family, my thought wasn’t that far off.
