While travelers may not be setting sail just yet, Princess Cruises celebrates a milestone: The newly completed Enchanted Princess ship was delivered to the cruise line earlier this week. The official handover ceremony took place via live streaming video from Fincantieri Shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy. The 3,660-guest Enchanted Princess joins the global fleet of MedallionClass vessels.

The ship is the 100th built by Fincantieri; the company launched itself into the modern passenger-ship-building business in 1990 with the delivery of Princess Cruises’ Crown Princess. Enchanted Princess is the first ship completed during COVID-19.

The new ship is an evolution of other MedallionClass ships, boasting new dining experiences, the most pools and whirlpool hot tubs ever, world-class entertainment venues and Sky Suites, offering expansive views from the largest balconies at sea.

Cruise-goers on MedallionClass ships use OceanMedallion wearable devices to expedite boarding; access on-demand food, beverage, retail and service delivery; gain stateroom entry; make contact-less payments; locate friends and family; and more. MedallionNet provides unprecedented WiFi connectivity, even allowing for streaming from the comfort of a stateroom.

Enchanted Princess also features Take Five, the only jazz theater at sea. The ship is scheduled to arrive in North America in December before a season of Caribbean cruises.

High-Spirited Hong Kong: The Dynamic Hub Embraces Its Maritime History and Culture

It was known as the “Kai Tak heart attack” — the thrilling, terrifying final approach into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport. Airliners were required to bank sharply at the last moment, dodging hills and apartment blocks to line up with a runway jutting out into Kowloon Bay. The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.

Why Japan Is Best Explored by Sea with Princess

Japan is a destination that rewards repeat visits because no two regions — or seasons —  feel quite the same. One moment, you’re wandering through centuries-old geisha districts in Kanazawa. The next, you’re watching neon reflections dance across Tokyo streets long after midnight.
