Celebrating the second anniversary of its car-free initiative, the Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Bureau debuts a pedestrian-friendly itinerary for exploring Culver City and its connection to movie, television and aviation history.
The multi-phase expansion of the Metro Expo Line also makes Culver City one of L.A.’s most accessible neighborhoods. Phase One of the expansion provides a seamless connection between Union Station in Downtown Los Angeles and Culver City. The new “Discover Culver City Car Free” itinerary marks the 14th self-guided itinerary generated by the tourism board.
Located between iconic Beverly Hills and the beaches of Santa Monica and Venice, Culver City — known as “The Heart of Screenland” — has been at the epicenter of motion picture history for decades. “The Wizard of Oz” and “Gone with the Wind” were filmed here. Highlights of the itinerary include Sony Studios, the historic Culver Hotel, Thinkspace Gallery and the celebrated restaurant Bucato, where James Beard Foundation nominated chef Evan Funke serves homemade pasta dishes in a modern, eco-friendly setting.
