Delta Air Lines recently announced two new services for domestic and international travelers.
Beginning April 2019, the airline offers non-stop service three times daily between Raleigh-Durham International Airport and Chicago O’Hare International Airport. Flights depart Raleigh at 7 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 6 p.m., arriving in Chicago after a two-hour, 20-minute flight. Flights depart Chicago at 8:55 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 7:55 p.m., arriving in Raleigh in two hours.
The service is available via a 70-seat Embraer E-175 regional jet, with 12 seats in first class, 20 in Delta Comfort-Plus and 38 in economy. Every seat includes a power port and access to WiFi and entertainment streaming.
“Delta is already the number one airline in RDU and we’re pleased to add a new non-stop link to our largest unserved destination from the Research Triangle area,” said Joe Esposito, senior vice president, network planning, Delta. “With the addition of our new service to Chicago-O’Hare, Delta will offer the RDU customer service to the majority of top destinations in the United States.”
Delta also celebrated its inaugural flight between Atlanta (ATL) and Shanghai (PVG). The daily non-stop flight provides further access across Asia via codeshare partner China Eastern. The route features a Boeing 777-200LR with 37 lie-flat seats with direct aisle access in Delta One, 36 seats in Delta Comfort-Plus and 218 seats in economy in a nine-abreast seating layout. Each seat provides in-flight entertainment on demand, WiFi and a power port. On all flights exiting China, Delta flights feature Chinese-speaking flight attendants, locally-sourced Chinese meals and more than 50 Chinese movies.

All archaeology-obsessed eyes turned hopefully toward Egypt earlier this year when the highly anticipated Grand Egyptian Museum outside Cairo finally began welcoming visitors after construction delays, funding roadblocks and political upheaval in the region (among other factors) conspired to keep things delayed for many long years. The museum’s cherry on the top is slated to open this summer, with the July opening of the museum’s 20-plus-years-in-the-making Tutankhamen galleries and accompanying cache of some 5,000 artifacts and treasures from the boy king’s tomb.
