Cunard will resume operations beginning July 19, with Queen Elizabeth welcoming guests for a series of U.K. voyages from Southampton, England. On Oct. 13, Cunard will sail internationally with new voyages to the Iberian coast and the Canary Islands, before leaving the United Kingdom in mid-February to resume a previously scheduled season in Japan from April 13, 2022.
Queen Mary 2 resumes sailing with a trans-Atlantic crossing Nov. 14, and will then sail a new series of voyages around the Caribbean, January–April 2022. Embarkation options include Southampton, England; New York; and Hamburg, Germany, before resuming with her planned schedule April 24, 2022.
Lastly, Queen Victoria embarks on three new voyages from Southampton beginning April 22, 2022, to western Europe, the Baltics and the Iberian Coast, resuming the existing public schedule May 20, 2022.
“On July 19, Queen Elizabeth‘s crew and I will be welcoming guests on board as at long last we start our return to sailing,” said Simon Palethorpe, president, Cunard. “This will be a momentous day for Cunard as after a long pause we finally get back to doing what we love doing, hosting guests for fantastic vacations. To say we cannot wait would be an understatement! Sadly, the path for a return to sailing across international waters is less clear and we are extremely sorry for the huge disappointment cancellations will cause for all guests who have been affected. Unfortunately, there are simply too many international ports of call affected by the ongoing complexities of COVID-19, which has sadly led to this decision. We’re really excited about the new itineraries mentioned, such as Queen Mary 2‘s sailings around the Caribbean, and hopefully these will appeal to those looking for some much-needed winter sun and those looking for adventure later this year and in 2022.”
Cunard did have to cancel certain voyages:
- Queen Elizabeth sailings from the United Kingdom to Australia, and the homeport season in Australia, Oct. 18, 2021–March 9, 2022
- World voyages on Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria in 2022
- Queen Victoria sailings Sept. 10, 2021–April 29, 2022
- Five Queen Victoria voyages will transfer to Queen Elizabeth

Mar 28, 2024Cruise Lines Elevate the Onboard Fine-Dining Experience
It’s been a long time since the food on cruise ships resembled the bland, uninspired fare that gave onboard dining a bad name. These days, cruise passengers can look forward to menus created by Michelin-starred chefs made with top-quality ingredients served in stunning spaces. Choices abound as well. In addition to elegant main dining rooms, cruise ships have created a huge array of specialty restaurants that focus not only on perfectly executed traditional European and North American dishes but flavors and experiences from around the globe as well. In fact, meals served aboard cruise vessels have gotten so good, they’re drawing passengers onto ships: According to a recent report by luxury travel planning network Virtuoso, advisors report after Europe (specifically Italy and France), the No. 2 dining destination for travelers is aboard an ocean or river cruise. “This shows how cruise lines have really stepped up their culinary game, with consulting chefs and new restaurants and making that a focal point,” said Misty Belles, vice president, Global Public Relations, Virtuoso.
