Suspended over a 980-foot crevice and taking the title of the world’s highest glass walkway bridge, China’s Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon skywalk offers an adrenalin-infused way to take in the scenery in the Hunan province following the attraction’s summer opening. Accommodating 800 tourists at a time, the 19-foot-wide walkway spans the open space between two cliffs located in the Zhangjiajie national park.
Designed by Israeli architect Haim Dotan, the bridge has already been tagged as the setting for future fashion shows. It will be the second high-elevation walkway to open in China in recent times, following the cliff-clinging path in Chongqing, which is inset with see-through glass panels and extends in a horseshoe shaped arc over a popular scenic area 2,350 feet above ground.
