Just in time for winter, Sweetwater Heli — California’s only heli-skiing operation — is gearing up for an official launch on Feb. 1, 2026. Operating out of the community of Bridgeport, California, the new heli-skiing company is conveniently close to snowy, high-alpine slopes in both Mammoth and Lake Tahoe, with 180,000 acres of new terrain waiting to be enjoyed in the Sweetwater Mountains. Drive time to Bridgeport from Lake Tahoe is about two hours, while those driving from north of Mammoth can expect an hour-long journey.
“I’m incredibly excited to introduce a premium heli-ski experience to California,” said Brian Kirschenmann, co-founder, Sweetwater Heli. “Having the opportunity for world-class heli-skiing right in our backyard is truly priceless and long overdue. Our team’s love for California and everything it offers makes this especially significant.”
Weather permitting, a typical day of heli-skiing includes around six–eight runs. A variety of ski levels can be accommodated, and pre-trip planning from Sweetwater Heli helps guests be sure they’re prepared, show up with the required gear, and have questions or concerns answered by pros.
After arrival, the Sweetwater Heli team provides each member of the expedition with comprehensive training on avalanche safety, use of avalanche safety gear, companion rescue and helicopter training. Guests can arrange in advance for rental equipment, or bring their own tried-and-true gear. Gourmet mountain lunches prepared and catered by a family-owned local establishment are also provided.
“Waking up in Mammoth, skiing untouched powder with your friends in the Sweetwater Mountains, and being back in time for après…Sweetwater Heli just created the ultimate California ski day,” said Hilary Roache, ski instructor, Mammoth Mountain.
Rates begin at $1,800 per day, with group rates and custom getaways also available. Options include single and multi-day expeditions, all led by experienced, certified guides and pilots.

Business travel is business travel ... right? Well, not if you’re an entrepreneur. Traditional business travelers are beholden to corporate travel policies, forced to book via a dedicated platform or with certain brands, and restricted by their employers’ duty of care. When it comes to entrepreneur travel, however, anything and everything is an option — and travel brands, from airlines to hotels and beyond are taking notice and adjusting their offerings accordingly.
