I am a huge fan of The White Lotus. It’s one of the few television shows I tune in to watch as it airs each week. For those unfamiliar, the series takes place at a fictional resort, The White Lotus referenced in the title. The first two seasons took place in Maui and Sicily, respectively. The third season, currently airing, takes place in Thailand. Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts served as the backdrop for filming all three seasons.

Since its debut, the show has caused a bump in tourism to the destinations where each season was set. Watching a recent episode, I said to my husband, “We should go to Thailand!” While we don’t have travel plans to Thailand any time in the near future, it did make me think of what other films and television shows offer travel inspiration. I asked some of my friends and family. Here are their thoughts:
“Well, The White Lotus makes me want to go to literally any resort!”
“I’ve always wanted to go to Tuscany because of Under the Tuscan Sun.”
“Emily in Paris reinforces my desire to travel to Paris and Europe.”
“Any time there was a sitcom where the characters took a trip to Disney, I would want to go.”
“The Hundred-Foot Journey inspired me to travel.”
“Watching Sherlock made me want to go to London.”
“After watching Bad Sisters, I really want to go to the beautiful coastal areas they showed in Ireland.”
“Little Women inspired me to see the Louisa May Alcott House.”
“Before Sunrise, Before Sunset and Before Midnight made me want to visit all of those destinations.”
“We traveled to St. Maarten because we saw an Anthony Bourdain episode about it and we thought it seemed cool.”
I loved hearing about my family’s and friends’ travel inspiration and even added a few new spots to my list!
