The Clubhouse of Newtown

by Andrew Risch

Jul 14, 2017

I have been around Newtown, Pa., for more than half my life now. I have seen the Liberty Bell, toured the city and visited lesser-known locations, like Bowman’s Tower. But since I moved here, I’ve constantly heard about The Clubhouse pizza.

My friends and I don’t usually head to a bar when we’re hungry, but this weekend we decided to have lunch at The Clubhouse.

Up until this weekend I had only heard legends of The Clubhouse pizza, and I assumed it was a mixture of the pizza and the spirits that gave it its mythical aura, but I was mistaken.

There is no way to explain and do justice to the pizza at The Clubhouse. The cheese is one-of-a-kind. It reminds me of the cheese on the pizza at Chuck E. Cheese’s when I was a kid. It brought back a sense of nostalgia as I consumed the whole pie.

The sauce was thick and not too sweet or savory. They let the ingredients carry the flavor. I recently chose another restaurant for the best crust I ever had, but my last choice pales in comparison to The Clubhouse.

Some are probably thinking, “This guy needs to relax; he is too crazy about pizza,” and you may be correct, but once you try the pizza at The Clubhouse in Newtown, you will quickly become a pizza snob like myself!
