I flew American Airlines to Los Angeles with a stop in Charlotte. The flight attendant started me off on the right foot by remarking I looked good. I felt good from the inside out. I was hydrated and had on my Kitsch cap to keep my hair conditioned and hydrated in flight, especially if you’ve got a 4c hair texture like mine. The flight crew went above and beyond to care for my seatmate, whose tooth crown ruptured on the flight. They were so caring, from trying to find a dentist on board to finding remedies to ease his pain. Way to go, AA!

Upon landing, my driver was a Zen practitioner who understudied a yogi … a very positive guy. I placed a well-intentioned call in the car that turned out to be distressing. He said, “Let it go,” and encouraged me to enjoy the beauty around me, which I did. And I’ve promised myself not to place any calls until I get to my destination … makes for a much better experience, but I digress.

We took the scenic route to Terranea, and I saw Catalina Island, which was so beautiful.

Terranea Resort is instantly soothing. The fresh air and sights of Catalina Island are in the backdrop. It’s like a postcard. The staff is so friendly, and it’s so unpretentious. It was inviting, alluring and elegant all at the same time.

I had lunch at Nelson’s and enjoyed the steak frites. The highlight of my stay was meeting one of my favorite artists of all time, Lisa Lisa.

Travel feeds my soul. It has afforded me moments like this one with Lisa Lisa that I’ll forever cherish. May this post feed yours, too.
