Artist and designer Samantha Dion Baker has a unique way of collecting souvenirs from places she travels. She draws them. Now she is encouraging others to join her.

Draw Your Adventures is Baker’s fourth book in her Draw series. It is an illustrated guide to drawing things from your travels.

In our interview Baker discussed what led to Draw Your Day, her first book. It’s the same concept as a daily journal but with an artistic twist.

Having minimal artistic ability, I asked Baker how others like me would tackle such a challenge. Her answer was so simple: Ability doesn’t matter, much like writing skills don’t matter in daily journals. Just draw. Whether it is a meal, attraction, skyline or one specific object is up to the traveler.

Baker also spoke about her career, her other books, what travel means to her and much more. She talked about how drawing her travels allows her to merge her two passions. She hopes her book will urge others to do more of both.

I picked up my copy of Draw Your Adventures a couple days ago. I also kept my word from the interview and drew some things from my recent trip to New York. I am not sharing my art here, but i enjoyed it and will do more in the future.
