In my recent Talking Travel interview with saxophonist Dave Koz, I learned musician Haley Reinhart is among the entertainers on his upcoming Somma Cruise. That news, along with the release of her new song “Promise,” provided a great reason for a Talking Travel interview with Reinhart.
After placing third on American Idol in 2011, Reinhart has gone on to a successful musical career. Her cover of “I Can’t Help Falling in Love” was certified platinum in 2023. Outside of music, Reinhart provided the voice of Bill Murphy on television’s F Is for Family.
The Chicago-area native has performed all over the world, including on a previous Dave Koz & Friends at Sea Cruise. In our interview, Reinhart discussed the lure of travel as one of the main reasons she did the cruise. After her first cruise, she fell in love with the big family aspect of the trip, a theme Koz stressed in his interview.
For Reinhart, family is key. Her musician parents, Harry and Patty, have joined Haley on the cruise and on stage. Her sister, Angie, also performs with her band The Alright Maybes. I have seen all four in various combinations many times.
Koz’s third Somma cruise, Jewels of the Adriatic, includes Croatia, Italy, Montenegro and Greece. Reinhart looks forward to all the stops, but being of Italian descent, she is especially excited about Italy. She also looks forward to the fun with everyone, as it is like one big family at sea.
Reinhart discussed the challenges and rewards of performing on a cruise ship at sea. The experience and scenery far outweigh any bump the waters bring.
We finished the interview with a bit of Chicago talk. Reinhart named a few of her favorite local spots and weighed in on the Chicago pizza debate. She hinted at possible future concert venues. Before ending, she revealed an interesting story of performing the national anthem for the Chicago White Sox.

Jul 13, 2026Review: Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis
ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: After a late-night flight into St. Louis, I arrived at the Four Seasons around 1:30 a.m., completely exhausted. The moment I stepped into the lobby, I was warmly greeted by the front desk attendant, who checked me in quickly and efficiently. On my way to the elevators, I caught a glimpse of the stunning lobby which had a long stream of water flowing behind a glass wall paired with a unique sculpture. Even in my tired state, I knew I wanted to come back and take it all in during daylight.
