Like most entertainers, musician Dave Koz has traveled the world performing. Since 2005 Koz has also traveled the world on his Dave Koz & Friends at Sea cruises.
Upon graduating from UCLA in 1986, saxophonist Koz started making his mark as a musician. Koz played in Richard Marx’s band along with bands on television shows The Arsenio Hall Show and Emeril Live. Koz’s greatest success has been his solo career. With more than 20 albums, Koz has sold millions of records, but his goal isn’t in those numbers. It is to keep a musical network growing.
The Dave Koz & Friends at Sea cruises do just that and more. In discussing his cruises in our Talking Travel interview, Koz stated the cruise motto is, “Seeing the world together through music.” Just in the last five years, the cruises have included Norway, Iceland, Greece, Spain, Amsterdam, Australia and other destinations. In November Koz & Friends will embark on Somma: Jewels of the Adriatic, a seven-day cruise to Greece, Italy and Croatia.
Adding to the experience, each cruise features live performances and conversations with musicians, speakers and guests. On the upcoming Somma cruise, musicians include Brian McKnight, Damien Escobar, David Benoit, Haley Reinhart and several others. Any one of those musicians would be a great show. All of them on one cruise is an amazing lineup.
In our interview Koz discussed his love of travel but admitted he was reluctant to start the cruise. Once on that first cruise, feeling the vibe and seeing the reactions of the guests, Koz was hooked. If not the first, Koz is among the first celebrities to start such a cruise concept. With more than 20 years of doing cruises, Koz speaks of them with such a soft-spoken passion, I felt the cruises went well beyond a business venture. The cruises have become part of Koz.
Along with describing the upcoming Somma cruise, Koz revealed his desired future destinations and his favorite previous ones. He had an unusual item on his list of personal necessities on any trip but one I completely understand and appreciate.
Koz is not just a celebrity who runs a cruise. With or without the cruise, he would still travel. He refers to travel as his elixir. Traveling the world with a ship full of friends (everyone is a friend on Dave Koz cruises) just heightens the experience.

Jul 13, 2026Review: Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis
ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: After a late-night flight into St. Louis, I arrived at the Four Seasons around 1:30 a.m., completely exhausted. The moment I stepped into the lobby, I was warmly greeted by the front desk attendant, who checked me in quickly and efficiently. On my way to the elevators, I caught a glimpse of the stunning lobby which had a long stream of water flowing behind a glass wall paired with a unique sculpture. Even in my tired state, I knew I wanted to come back and take it all in during daylight.
