At Royalton CHIC Punta Cana, lounging by the pool or beach was just the beginning — there was always something fun going on. During the day the pool had fitness classes like Aqua Fresh Fit, underwater spinning and Zumba. If that wasn’t your speed, you could try Spanish lessons, dance classes, mini golf, volleyball, kayak races or join in on the ever-popular foam party.

If staying active was the goal, the resort also offered a fitness center along with tennis, basketball and pickleball courts. And for those who just wanted to be pampered (I fell into this category), the spa was the perfect place for us.

When it came to dining, there was no shortage of options. The buffet offered plenty of variety, with a different theme each day to keep things interesting. There were also five à la carte restaurants available by reservation. Hunter Steakhouse served up a great wedge salad — definitely don’t skip the bread with fried onions and chipotle sauce. Tandori offered flavorful Indian cuisine, while Cloud 9 delivered a unique chef’s table experience. Vespa, the Italian trattoria, was a hit — especially being entertained by a waiter with a giant pepper grinder making rounds around the tables. My personal favorite, though, was Pescari Sushi & Ceviche, where we sampled just about everything on the menu. It was a foodie’s dream, and my favorite dishes were eel sushi and Japanese braised baby back ribs that were perfectly fall-off-the-bone tender. We loved it so much, we went back on our last night for more!
