I spent much of last week immersed in the world of golf at the NV5 Invitational. A tournament on the Korn Ferry Tour, it was held at The Glen Club in Glenview, Illinois, north of Chicago.
It was first played as the Evans Scholars Invitational in May 2019 at The Glen Club, with Scottie Scheffler as winner. Benefiting Evans Scholars Foundation, the NV5 Invitational is a showcase and audition for the next group of PGA leaders.
The week started with a preview day on Tuesday. Guest speaker 2023 NV5 champ and PGA TOUR player Trace Crowe discussed a Korn Tour victory leading to a spot on the PGA TOUR.
The smaller Tuesday crowd also allowed me to roam the grounds more freely. I walked the course, checking out all the holes and other elements along the way. Recognized as a Top 100 golf course, Glen Club occupies 195 acres on the former site of Glenview Naval Air Station. It was designed by Tom Fazio, ranked as one of the top 10 golf course architects of all time by Golf Digest.
University of North Texas alum 27-year-old Thomas Rosenmueller finished with a two-stroke victory over Australian Karl Vilips. Rosenmueller became the 14th first-time winner on Korn Ferry Tour this season.
With seven events remaining in the season, Rosenmueller moved to No. 15 on the 2024 Korn Ferry Tour Points List. The top 30 players earn PGA TOUR memberships for the 2025 season.
A casual golf fan at best, I couldn’t help but get swept up in the excitement. The field consisted of some of the best young golfers and future PGA pros. I truly watched the future of golf.
