Last week the Philadelphia culinary scene received long-overdue recognition as several restaurants debuted on the coveted Michelin Guide for the first time. The Michelin team awarded one star each to three of Philadelphia’s best restaurants: Friday Saturday Sunday, Her Place Supper Club and Provenance. Pietramala received a Green Star for its sustainable cuisine. In addition to the starred restaurants, Michelin Guide recognized 10 restaurants with its Bib Gourmand title and 21 as Michelin Recommended.
Just days before the announcement, my husband and I dined at Little Water, which landed on the Michelin Recommended list. We can confirm the honor is well-deserved. The seafood-focused menu offered a selection of raw and cooked dishes, with seasonal options. We lucked out and ordered the last hiramasa collar special, which we both agreed was one of the best bites of the night. Our entrées of swordfish Milanese and whole fried snapper were also cooked to perfection. In addition to the tasty fare, the cozy atmosphere made for a wonderful date-night spot.
Beyond Little Water, we’ve had the pleasure of dining at several restaurants on the list, including some of our favorites in the city — My Loup, Forsythia, Laser Wolf, Kalaya and Fiorella.
There are more I want to try including Her Place Supper Club, River Twice and Vedge. It might be hard to get a table at these spots in the near future, but it’s a good problem to have.
