Last week the Global Traveler team headed to Nashville to celebrate the 10th annual The Trazees awards. It is customary to arrive in the town where the event is held a day prior to the event and to gather for a “family” meal that evening to catch up with co-workers we don’t see every day.

This time The Thompson Hotel in Nashville hosted us for an entire evening of togetherness. Beginning with drinks on the rooftop at L.A. Jackson, we sat down by the bar and ordered a mix of its fun cocktails and wine. The weather that evening was perfect; so before we headed back downstairs to Marsh House, we migrated to the rooftop deck for photos.

Marsh House is a seafood restaurant on the ground level of The Thompson Hotel run by a team whose roots run from New Orleans to Nashville. The southern-style seafood menu was elegant and fun. So much fun, the Bumps and Bongs category on the menu immediately caught my eye and was one of the first things ordered. A bump of fine caviar and a champagne bong was one of the highlights of the evening. I went on to pair the mussels and seared scallops with a crisp glass of Sancerre from the bottle the team shared.

My side of the table ordered “one of each” from the dessert menu to try the Fruit Loop-topped crème brûlée, bread pudding and chocolate cake. The table decided the bread pudding was the favorite as we rolled out of the restaurant and got some sleep before the big day.
