Next Saturday, October 13, members of the Global Traveler team will participate in Light the Night to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The event takes place in cities and towns across the United States. Individuals or teams raise funds for LLS. At twilight, thousands of participants walk with illuminated balloons — white for survivors, red for supporters and gold in memory of loved ones lost to cancer.
Funds raised support lifesaving blood cancer research; free educational materials and events for patients and their families; local programs; and comprehensive, personalized assistance.
I’m sure the night will be inspirational, and I’m proud to “bring light to the dark world of cancer.” I plan to report back on the event in a future blog.
As you may know, Global Traveler is involved with LLS in many ways. The charity is the beneficiary of our annual online travel auction. Personally, I work closely with the organization’s Team in Training, first as a participant, then as a mentor and now as a coach. I cannot even begin to describe the ways in which being involved with the organization changed my perspective.
On Oct. 13, I’ll be walking side by side with Danielle Hudena and Lindsay Gruen, representing Team Global Traveler, and doing our part to fight cancer and remember and honor survivors, those affected and the deceased.
