The airport convenience store experience is about to get more convenient. The Hudson Group is adding Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology to some of its Hudson News stores.

The world’s largest operator of airport newsstands, Hudson has more than 1,000 North American outlets. Hudson stores carry snacks, publications, toiletries and other items catering to the last-minute needs of travelers.
Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology will allow customers to pick products and walk out without waiting in line, with their credit card charged and a receipt emailed. Amazon already uses Just Walk Out technology at more than two dozen Amazon Go and Amazon Go Grocery stores, along with licensing it to other retailers.
The plan is to add the system at the Dallas Love Field Airport Hudson outlet this quarter, with other stops across North America to follow. Mark Duebner, director, Dallas Love Field Airport, stated, “The future of airports and air travel is becoming more contactless, so we are happy to be the first airport with a Hudson store using Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology.”
There have been many times I went to Hudson News for a bottle of water or other last-minute purchase only to be discouraged by a long line. The Just Walk Out technology will eliminate that obstacle.
